Why: No state dietitian licensure.
A compact privilege is layered on top of a home-state license. California does not license dietitians, so there is no license for the privilege to attach to. Joining the compact would require California to first enact a licensure law — a far larger legislative lift than compact adoption, and the reason the largest RD workforce in the country sits outside this system entirely.
What to ask for in California
Ask for dietitian licensure first. The compact comes after.
Your state has no dietitian licensure, so the compact is not yet available to it. Your ask is licensure first.
