About this site

I am a registered dietitian. I built this site because everything about the Dietitian Licensure Compact is already public, but it's scattered across a dozen or more places. An RD who just wants to know whether they can practice in the next state over should not have to put that together from press releases.

This is not an official source

This site is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Dietitian Licensure Compact Commission, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, the Commission on Dietetic Registration, or The Council of State Governments. Nothing here is legal advice. Before you rely on anything on this site — a bill status, an enactment date, whether you are eligible — confirm it with your state legislature, your state licensing board, and the official compact site.

How the data is graded

Every state entry carries a confidence level, shown on its page and in the map panel.

Verified — 30 states. Corroborated against a primary source: the legislature's own bill record, an enrolled bill PDF, the state code, a governor's office, or a state licensing board.
Reported — 21 states. Stated by a credible secondary source — a state Academy affiliate, Today's Dietitian, CSG, CDR — but not confirmed against the legislature. Usually accurate; occasionally stale.

What this site does not know

The gaps matter as much as the entries:

Three member states show a month or a year rather than an exact day. Where I have only the month or year, the site says the month or year — currently Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri.
Fee schedules do not exist yet. The Compact Commission has not published them, so neither has this site.

How the legislator lookup works

You type an address. It goes to the US Census Bureau geocoder, which converts it to a coordinate, and that coordinate goes to Open States, which returns the state legislators whose districts contain it. Both calls happen on the server so the API key is never exposed. Your address is not stored, logged, or shared, and the letter you write never leaves your browser — the send button opens a draft in your own mail client, from your own address, and you press send.

Report a correction

If something here is wrong, I want to know — especially if you are the person who worked the bill. The most valuable corrections are: a bill number for a member state that shows a blank, a current Academy affiliate URL, an exact enactment date, a state that has moved status since 2026-09-10, or a stated reason for declining that this site has mischaracterized.

Include a link to a primary source if you have one and it goes in the same day. Corrections are the entire reason this is graded by confidence rather than presented as settled.

Privacy

There are no analytics on this site, no cookies, and no third-party scripts.

The address you type into the legislator lookup is sent to the US Census geocoder and to Open States to find your district. It is not logged and it is not stored.

The correction form above is the one place on this site that keeps and stores data. What you type into it — the correction, the state, any source link, and your email if you choose to leave one — is stored by Netlify, which hosts this site, on servers in the United States. I am the only person who can see it, and it stays there until I delete it. The email field is optional and there is no reason to fill it in unless you want a reply.
